Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Hilary, my son, and I are home and we are well. Thank you for your prayers; I honestly don't think we could have done it without you. The Lord supplied the strength we needed, even when we were (I was) losing hope. There were several times I thought we might end up with a C-section, but the Lord spared us. At 2:09 p.m. on Sunday July 26 we welcomed Samuel Kenneth Owens (a.k.a. Little Toot) into the world. He is healthy and hardy at 8 lbs. 1 oz., 22 in. long, and has a 15 1/2 in. (not so) little head. Even though the amniotic sac had been ruptured for over 24 hours and he had pooped in utero, he is perfectly well; and believe me, they examined him THOROUGHLY. I am so very proud of my wife, a super trooper. She labored for over 36 hours and delivered our little man naturally; she did need Pitocin towards the end, but she used no pain meds at all. She is well and happy. Mom and dad said I looked worse afterwards than she did! In fact, last night she referred to the birth as "yesterday," even though it had only been a few hours on that same day.
We ask that visitors only come between the hours of 3:00 and 8:00 p.m. Please, call beforehand, and observe the same time frame for telephone calls.
Over the next several days, weeks, months and even years, you may follow the development of our son and our adventures in parenting on facebook or on our blog, www.chocolataunoir.blogspot.com.
Please continue praying.
In Christ,
Trey Owens
P.S. Family, Friends, and home churches, you may send this email along to anyone you think would want to know, especially to those folks who have been praying for us.
P.P.S. Friends, please only call between the hours of 3:00 and 8:00 pm. Family can call at any reasonable time day or night, although our phones may be off and we may have to call back.
More pictures forthcoming.

Good for you guys on the putting down of the foot in regards to keeping certain visiting hours. That is SO important. When Oliver was born, that was the hardest thing for us. A lot of people did not at all understand that, NEWSFLASH: we just had a baby & we were beyond exhausted and thought we should be nearly always available for phone calls and visiting, and it even started within several hours of him being born (and continued on). It boggles my mind that people who should know better (parents, especially) some how don't. Anyway, kudos again on that good call. You may or may not receive some backlash regarding that from certain folks, but just stand your ground, (especially you Trey, and protect your wife and son). Andrew was great about keeping his foot down when we received "the backlash," and I was too weak/hormonal-emotional/freaking exhausted to stand up for us. All three of you need rest as much as you can get it. :)
