by the way

Some people say "Trey" is French for three, but it isn't. "Trois" is French for three. "Trey" is just some southern nickname for the third namesake. He wants a fourth, too (assuming we get the option some day), but I can't figure out what his nickname would be. Any ideas?

Okay, and good ideas?

Yeah, yeah, but any usable ideas?

Well, but how about any ideas that wouldn't make our son hate us for calling him that?

the nickname of Ivan the Fourth of Russia was "Ivan the Terrible"

Jack the Terrible could work

Q - short for quad. he would sound like a James Bond character

Marshall - I was called Marshall (still by family) but switched in 7th grade. I kind of wish I stuck with what my parents called me

Sunday or Rest - the 4th commandment is "Remember the Sabbath"

Sorry for all the brain storming. I named ALL my children. I chose "Trey" in 1975 (10th grade) had a friend with it. Zack was named in 1984 or 85 it came from teaching Zechariah & Malachi

spinning off your father in law's deal...this may be too much of a stretch for you, but i really like it....it would be cool to go with the Sabbath Rest theme, as the FOURTH commandment, and find a name (either biblical or not) that ties in to/means something about God's rest or restful or peaceful or something...or holiness..anything from the fourth commandment.

maybe too much of a stretch for you...but eh.

The 4th of July something about independence.

or the 4th dimension

HYPERCUBE : ) could be prophetic

Considering the Fourth Dimension:

Often it is helpful to visualize the way dimensions increase when considering the fourth dimension. Examine the chart on the right. Notice that the zero dimension is represented by a point, 1 dimensions is represented by a line, and 2 dimensions is represented by a square. When we try to express three dimensions on a flat surface, like your computer screen, we draw two squares and diagonal lines connecting the vertices. It represents a cube, but it is not actually a cube. So perhaps when we draw a 4 dimensional cube, we can draw two cubes and connect the diagonal vertices. That figure is called a *hypercube*. Keep in mind that trying to express a 4 dimensional hypercube on a 2 dimensional surface is not very helpful. But it at least helps you understand the kind of progression going on. Visualizing 4th dimensional objects is not important if you merely want do some simple computations. For instance, in 3 dimensions, the volume of a sphere is 4/3(pi)r^3, however the hypervolume of a 4 dimensional hypersphere is determined by 1/2(pi^2)r^4.

TETRA

Plasma - is the 4th state of matter

The Fourth Way

" One must do everything one can and then say 'God have Mercy!' "

-- G. I. Gurdjieff

The idea of the fourth way is strongly associated with Gurdjieff, who appears to have been the first to use this phrase. The bulk of his discussion of this idea is to be found in Ouspensky's record of his teaching in Russia, In Search of the Miraculous. In his own writings, the idea is implicit but never mentioned as such (this is similar to his teaching on the enneagram). In Russia, he referred to three traditional ways:

1 - Way of the Fakir, involving effort in the body
2 - Way of the Monk, involving devotion and concentration of feeling
3 - Way of the Yogi, involving largely mental attention.
4 - In the fourth way, effort is made in all three: body, feeling and mind. This is harmonious development, as in Gurdjieff's Institute for the Harmonious Development of Man. To some degree, his series of movements or 'sacred gymnastics' epitomised this approach (in the learning of them rather than their performance). His inner exercises, insofar as these are reported, usually involved an act of mental concentration combined with physical effort; the feelings are also involved but spontaneously in the 'I am' state.

Music

From the time that Sappho walked the earth and inspired the ancient Greeks with the soft murmur of her music to the Year 2000 with the launch of the motion picture Fantasia/2000, music has been an element of human life that has given this world the power to live with vigor and dignity. One could say that music is as essential to human life as oxygen, water, and food.

on the same theme as april you can call your theoretical son "cat" for the french pronunciation. I think that the nick name "cat" would kinda cool!

i thought of "cat" also, but thought that it was kinda feminine.
